{ Sunday, 14 December 2008 }

Then off to Metusin Recycling Sdn Bhd located in Kampong Bengkurong Masin. There were these cute dogs there, a mother and her two lil' puppies.. Kalinya the one yang uruskan that place halau the dogs, maybe cause they saw my mum and I wearing tudong. I don't mind thou.. They seemed jinak and friendly and one of the puppy even looked at me with its puppy eyes.. かわいい!!! And the dogs seems to be afraid of us ... Hehe... I was a bit scared too cause I don't know what to do if they approach me..

Not ours but all the cans and recyclable materials send to the recycling place

So.. in my mind sudah terbayang all the $$$.. Efna was thinking that the minimum $$$ we will get is $5 and me? Haha... Max. $20 and minimum $1o. Yup.. yup... totally over the top.

The buyer told me that currently the price of aluminium is less than before and they don't accept tins/besi. Therefore, they don't accept Mr. Brown nor Seasons' soy bean milk.

Separating the tins from the cans. They just use magnet.. So simple kan...

Here are the current prices for aluminium cans and palstic bottles:

Aluminuim cans: 0.30/kg

Plastic bottles: 0.03/kg

We had 14 kg of plastic bottles and 7 kg of cans.. So.. we only got $2.50. Hehe... Kesian ah.. I had too much hope.. Huhuhu....

But $$$ is not what we are aiming for, we wanted to let people know of how much plastics and aluminiums, which can be recycled, were thrown away just like that.. In UBD alone, Efna and I managed to collect not less than 50 cans and bottles or even more within one hour going thru garbage cans in FASS, CLT and SHBIE. And furthermore it was already late in the afternoon, where the cleaners had already collected the rubbish..

We did the tower not just for fun, it's to show how much we can help the earth by recycling..

Okay then, that is all for this semester project, will be proposing for other projects in the future..

This news has been brought to you by Liyana かわいい  \(^^)/

P.S: I am going to change the layout cause of the sidebar. It's too small and we can't even see the pic of the endangered animal. Harhar..

Draft/ plan made by Liyana our lovely Boss

Ehe excuse the 'extra' graffities...the pic was taken after the actual miniature tower was build! and here are two pics of the process of building the tower..sorry ppl these are the only pics I have for that day...

Completed on 29th Oct 2008 @8.30pm-ish the night before convocation~~

Our miniature apprx 2m TOWER OF HOPE a.k.a tower of cans and bottles...and yes the pic was taken the day after..on the actual convo n some graduates even take picture with it! *bangga haha*

Glad that everyone liked it esp the VC..although it collapsed yesterday 5th Nov 2008...heee well...will try to improve the structure next time:)

The tower project is indeed over now..however we would still urge to all UBDian esp FASS ppl to continue donating us recyclables materials for our next recycling project as we are now planning to make it a long term project....

Anyways here are the Synopsis of the tower project for u guys to ponder about...and hopefully u guys will continue to support our intention to have a better campus environment as well as evoke our conscience towards the environment....

"In conjunction with this year’s Convocation, we came up with the idea of building a miniature tower made up of recycled items such as bottles and aluminium cans. Other than to decorate FASS, this tower was also build to raise the awareness of people on how much “waste” we produce on a regular basis in campus by consuming soft drinks and bottled water. Recycling should be practiced to save our mother earth. Metals (14%) and plastics (16%) are two of the main solid wastes produced in Brunei. As these solid waste materials are slow to degrade, it would get accumulated in the environment. (Extracted from 7th NDP) In that case, let’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle."

We can make a difference, Be a Helping Hand~

There will be more projects to come next semester, so anyone who wish to join our committee u are welcomed!

Last but not least..since End semester exam is coming real soon~ Best of luck to all and make good use of the Revision week yahhhh XD!

Announcement: Project 01

{ Tuesday, 30 September 2008 }
As you all have known, we handed in a proposal to the AR about the project that we are planning to do during the convocation month. I've just been told that the project has been approved. Yay!!

So... start collecting all those recyclable materials you guys!!!

And also we're thinking of making a pyramid-like structure with an arch in the middle of it. The AR wanted us to be creative and maybe you guys can come up with something more creative than this.

Leave a comment or e-mail us if you have any other suggestions but please bare in mind that the structure must be:

1. Stable
2. Can withstand wind, rain etc. and lastly
3. Creative

Okay guys, put on that thinking hats of yours.

'Till next time..
